He was born as the third son of Sharane Anusuya and Sharana Shantaiah of Attikatti village in Byadagi taluk of Haveri district, popularly known as the land of sharanas. He was named Siddaramaiah. They have a brother named Vebasaiah and sisters named Geetha.
After completing his primary and secondary education at Attikatti, he came to Sri Nandigudi Mutt for high school education, Sanskrit and Veda practice. As a disciple of Sri Nandeeshwara Shivacharya Mahaswamiji, he became a junior seer at Sri Mushtagiri Mutt and was blessed by the Supreme Pujya and was initiated by the Guru on Guru Pournami.
From then on, he became Sri Sri Somashekhara Shivacharya Mahaswamiji by the name Of Siddharama. Since then, he has been working in about 410 villages of the taluk to organise padayatras and religious issues, bringing together the youth and creating a youth platform comprising 2000 youth at Srikshetra Mushtagiri.
Later on, he became well-known among the people of the society with his association with nature, running saplings, pro-people and social concerns. Taking note of his fame and achievements, the samaj officially took over the reins of Sri Pushpagiri Maha Samsthana on 19-10-2008 as Srishaila Surya Simhasanadhisha 1108 Jagadguru Sri Sri Somashekhara Shivacharya Mahaswamiji.
